Fibre power

jum I glimpsed the tail end of an advert on fibre and it got me thinking about the power behind fibre… Generally fibre maintains our digestive system. There are two types of fibre found mainly in plant cell walls: 1. insoluble fibres, (such as cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin) 2. soluble fibres, (such as gums, pectins and resistant starches).

Soluble fibre helps delay gastric emptying, which results in you feeling full for longer – great for staying off hunger pangs! This is also good for maintaining blood sugar levels. Since it slows gastric emptying and nutrient absorption this may result in the slower release of sugar into the bloodstream. Read improved blood sugar regulation.

Insoluble fibres’ primarily promote regularity and may also be helpful to colon health. The faster food and digestive byproducts pass through your digestive tract, the less time there is for toxins to do their damage and the better you’ll feel. I mean who wants to feel all bloated and sluggish? Fibre supplements might be the trick you’re missing.

Fibre consumption varies widely. The average adult consumes approximately 11-13g per day – less than half of the recommended 25-30g.

The best fibre supplements offer a blend of soluble and insoluble fibres. When you’re buying a fibre supplement find out how many fibre raw materials have actually gone into your product. The more raw materials contained the better. and the more natural they are the better! Email pure:edge to find out our recommended brand or for a personalised lifestyle assessment (£50).

We’re used to a bargain culture aren’t we? By one get one free, 50% off, 75% off… The fact is you will always find something cheaper elsewhere. Don’t forget you get what you pay for. And don’t forget that the very shops providing you with all these bargains aren’t doing it because they like you – it makes business sense for them!

A little while ago I decided to start buying quality. Maybe it was because I had just finished uni and I was tired of living cheap! I think it was more than that – I started to value myself. I was working on my self esteem, my appearance, my goals. Like every woman I want to look and feel fabulous. (Men forgive me, if you are with me on this then great, but I’m afraid so many men aren’t yet)! I want to turn heads for the right reasons.

I started to look into the dirt cheap things I was buying. Skin care, make up, products for my home… Oops! The alarm bells started ringing! This stuff was awful, their contents poison, their effects zero and they didn’t last. Now I’m not saying you should buy things you can’t afford, the things that are stupidly expensive for no apparent reasons apart from maybe a brand name. (Who cares anyway? – Dare I say that?!) But I am saying that you can get true value for your money by buying the right stuff.

It’s not a big step to pay a little more, experience great results and get quality which means items last longer anyway. Bring all these things into perspective and you actually save money!

This is the philosophy behind pure:edge. We believe that we all deserve the best and we all deserve results. And that is what is at the forefront of our minds when we make product recommendations. Exclusive products, with exclusive results for those that value themselves…

So, what’s lifestyle anyway?

Here’s the idea behind how pure:edge sees lifestyle – we want you to have an edge on life through ideas to liberate, beautify, energise, extend and inspire! I see true lifestyle as feeling good, in mind and in body; real lifestyle is about knowing how to achieve beauty from the inside out; lifestyle is about valuing yourself enough to provide yourself with quality; a great lifestyle is about looking fab, feeling energised and having great surroundings. Put simply, true lifestyle is balance.

Balance – a state of equilibrium! So in this fast paced, stressed out, busy, busy, busy modern world how do we achieve balance? How do we know how to choose the best health product for us? What about the best skin care range? How do we save time? And how on earth do we achieve the polished image showcased by the celebrity that many of us aspire to?

I’m afraid I can’t give you the answer you want to all of these questions. You’d like me to point you to a magical and enlightened place where solutions abound. Sorry to disappoint, but no can do! What I can do is offer a little bit of help based on what I have found from my own quest for that elusive feeling of utter gorgeousness! I wanted practical, useful, real time help so that’s what I’ll be giving.

Let’s see where this path takes us!
